The Program: The Train to Win Over 50 Program is simply a training and tracking system to evaluate your fitness and encourage smart training with age appropriate and individualized workout progressions (or ramps).

How is this program different than the others? The Train to Win Over 50 program is centered on training that challenges you to finish strong. Meaning a major componant to every Over 50 workout plan is following a precise progression of training phases and workouts that include an extra (insurance) dose of recovery. Recovery is key to success for any athlete but especially those over 50. Additionally, by keeping a closer eye on you with weekly monitoring of your plan, we can evaluate how you are coping with your training. Both the precision oriented planning and weekly updates will help to prevent against all-too-common overuse injury and illness problems related to overtraining.

Here's what you get every month ...

The Coach: Ken Nicodemus started the Fit Stop Human Performance Lab in 1998 and has been providing advanced fitness testing and guidance programs to athletes, corporate executives and yes seniors since the early 80's. Ken has a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology and is Certified as an Advanced Health & Fitness Specialist.

One of Ken's favorite quotes is by CS Lewis and it goes "One should not be content with nor impatient with oneself." This is a great description of the underlying thought behind all of our training plans especially programs for the over 50 population.

*Personal one-to-on training can cost between $420 to over $600 a month (or more) for two sessions a week. Too often trainers will only monitor your 1-hour session but fail to follow closely your lifestyle activities and endurance program each day of every week.

 

*Online Professional coaching with a sport specific coach who is generally an expert in his or her sport with associated certifications. This coaching consists of a limited number of phone contacts and limited or sometimes unlimited email interaction. Planning can be updated weekly or monthly depending on the plan. Pro coaches are very good a putting you in touch with programs and plans that prepare you for your goal event. Unfortunately they rarely target the over 50 crowd and lifestyle.

 

Occasionally you can find Professional coaching that includes regular advanced testing like lactate or VO2 testing for metabolic comparisons along with body composition, strength, and motion analysis. The combination can be very expensive and even in a best case scenario it will cost well over $300 a month.

 

For test, set-up and 1st month of coaching only $200. After that only $100 a month for as long as you like. You will train with your own Exercise Physiologist who will be planning and following your training online. The coaching plans are hand built and weekly adjusted to meet your specific needs. Save at least $200/month compared to the comparable programs to the left.
